Born in Safranbolu in 1992, Sena Karataş-Öztürk graduated first in her class from the Painting Department of Safranbolu Anatolian Fine Arts High School in 2010. After completing her undergraduate studies at Marmara University, she received a Ministry of National Education YLSY scholarship for master’s and doctoral studies in the United States. She continues her doctoral research at Florida State University as a research assistant. She also works as an illustrator and graphic designer on CPALMS and PreK–2 Assessment projects at the Learning Systems Institute, designing mathematics and language assessment questions for Florida.
Her doctoral work focuses on artificial intelligence, extended reality and virtual reality. The innovative approach in her dissertation received the Florida Art Education Association’s Higher Education Student Achievement Award in 2024. During her master’s studies, she was named Art Educator of the Year 2018 by the Alabama Art Education Association. She has received academic and artistic awards and participated in international exhibitions. In 2023, she was invited to speak on advanced educational technologies at a Shandong University of Art symposium. She continues to give talks at institutions and universities in her field.
